Wimbledon men semifinals preview

Wimbledon men semifinals will be played on Friday and this preview will analyze who has the biggest chance for the title.

Roger Federer defeated Marin Cilic in five sets after an amazing comeback! Cilic led by 2:0 and he had several break chances early in the third set, but Federer survived and in the end celebrated a huge victory. This was the first time in Cilic’s career that he lost on Grand Slams after leading by 2:0, so the defeat is ever tougher for him.

Milos Raonic will play against Roger Federer in his second Wimbledon semifinal. Two years ago, he also played against Federer and the Swiss won that match in routine fashion in straight sets. However, Milos Raonic improved greatly this year, he also played a terrific match at Australian Open semifinals, falling to Andy Murray in fifth set. Milos hopes he can make his career best Grand Slam result here and, why not, win his maiden Grand Slam title. He defeated Sam Querrey in the quarterfinal in four sets, the man who eliminated world number one, Novak Djokovic.

Federer mostly defeats Raonic in their head to head matches – Raonic won only two out of their eleven meetings. They played on Grand Slam tournaments twice and Federer won both matches in straight sets, so he is a favorite in the forthcoming match. However, Federer had a back and a knee issues this year and after five setter in Wednesday, he may not be fit enough to sail past Raonic. On the other hand, we probably won’t see many long rallies in this match, so fitness shouldn’t play a big role.

Andy Murray defeated Jo Wilfried Tsonga in five sets and qualified for the semifinals. Murray led by 2:0 and it seemed he will record an easy victory, but when Tsonga leveled the score, everybody in the centre court remembered what happened in the match between Federer and Cilic. However, Murray didn’t let Tsonga to completely turn around the result and won the fifth set easily, by 6:1.

Tomas Berdych, as expected, had the easiest job in the quarterfinals – he defeated Lucas Pouille in straight sets and he will be the fittest player in the semifinals, which can make a difference in his match against Murray, who plays physically demanding tennis.

Murray leads by eight to six in their head to head matches and he also recorded four victories in a row. They also played three matches on Grand Slams and Murray won two of them, but this will be their first meeting on grass courts. Murray is certainly a favorite in this match, but Berdych plays his best tennis on Grand Slam tournaments this year and this should be a very close match.
