Several news of new transfers are coming out of Premier League as Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi has agreed personal terms with Arsenal with the deal expected to go complete this weekend after clubs agree on a transfer fee. Arsenal needed to reinforce their defensive options after injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista.
Swansea City have finalized the transfer of Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston for a club-record fee of £15.5 million. Baston scored 18 goals while on loan to Eibar last season and will replace Andre Ayew in Swansea’s attack after Ayew signed for West Ham. Swansea on the other hand, have lost their long-time captain, centre-back Ashley Williams who signed for Everton today. Former Man City defender Martin Demichelis returned to his former club Espanyol after signing one-year deal with La Liga side.
There were two coaching changes in European football today after Villarreal announced shocking departure of coach Marcelino just days before the start of the new Primera division season. He was in charge at El Madrigal since 2013 and led the club to fourth place and Champions League qualification last season. The coaching staff have reportedly clashed with the players after defender Mateo Musacchio was stripped of captain’s armband and the squad gave ultimatum to Villarreal chairman Fernando Roig it’s either the coach or them.
Greek champion Olympiacos also announced their third coaching change in last two months. Portuguese coach Paulo Bento will take over after Spaniard Victor Sanchez was sacked due to Champions League elimination. Sanchez led Olympiacos for only six weeks after taking over from Marco Silva in June.

Australia almost pulled a shocking victory over USA at men’s basketball tournament at Olympics putting up brave fight but in the end lost 98-88 in the third round of Group A. In the same group Venezuela beat China 72-68 while in Group B Croatia defeated hosts Brazil 80-76 in the battle for third place in that group.
Brazil beat Germany 33-30 in third round in Group B of men’s handball Olympics tournament to climb above them to second place. In the same group Poland beat Egypt 33-25 while in Group A Tunisia and Qatar drew 25-25 and Croatia beat Denmark 27-24.
Poland took the lead in Group B of men’s volleyball tournament at Olympic Games after they beat Argentina 3-0. In the same group Iran beat Cuba 3-0 while Russia defeated Egypt with same score to keep second place after three rounds.
We saw two big surprises at men’s Water Polo tournament at the Olympics in the third round late last night after hosts Brazil shocked World and European champions Serbia 6-5 in Group A while Spain defeated favorited Croatia 9-4 in Group B.
The medals were handed out today in several other sports at Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro – in rowing Germany took gold in both men’s and women’s quadruple sculls, New Zealand won in men’s coxless pair, Poland won in women’s double sculls while Croatia won gold medal in men’s double sculls and Switzerland triumphed in men’s coxless lightweight four. In shooting Barbara Engleder of Germany won gold medal in rifle 3 positions from 50 meters. In canoe riding Slovakia took gold in men’s double while Maialen Chourraut of Spain won gold in women’s single. American Kayla Harrison won gold medal in women’s judo in category up to 78kg while Lukas Krpalek of Czech Republic took the gold in men’s 100kg category. German Lisa Unruh took gold in women’s individual archery while young American star Simon Biles won in gymnastics in women’s all-round individual competition.
