Serie A – Who will fight for survival?

Serie A this season guarantees a lot of excitement, and after the presentation of the teams that are candidates for high ranking we will see who will fight for survival.

Udinese

Udinese plays with many oscillations during the season, and last year they were very close to moving to Serie B. The sign that the black-and-white from Udine will have big problems this season arrived very early. Udinese is already eliminated from the Coppa Italia, and to a team that competes in Serie B. After a long time the team from Udine will not have Antonio di Natale, who has decided to end his playing career. Udinese must quickly find a replacement for a player who was very important. Udinese has not been too aggressive this year in the market, and certainly there was a need to bring in quality players. So, this year the burden will fell on the players who secured the survival in the elite last season. Much is expected of Duvan Zapata, the forward who will spend his second season in Udine on a loan from Napoli. At the start of the season Udinese will play some very difficult games, which can largely determine the direction their season will go.

Bologna

Bologna returned to the Serie A last season and managed to secure the survival, despite slightly weaker start. Veltri enter the new season with the same ambitions, but it will not be easy. The competition this year is exceptional, and in order to survive in the elite they need to play good constantly. Bologna is aware that it needs reinforcements, particularly in attack. The club signed few young players who have yet to make the name for them in the Serie A, but that is obviously not enough. So, Bologna is often mentioned as one of the teams that wants Maria Balotelli. Last season Bologna scored only 33 goals, and this year will have to be much more efficient in order to remain in the league.

Pescara

After a three year, Pescara returned to Serie A, after celebrating in Serie B playoff. For start, the ambitions of this team are to secure the survival, but after the departure of top scorer from last season, Gianluca Lapadula to AC Milan, that will be easy. In most cases, teams that enter Serie A do not have enough financial power to bring big stars, but rely heavily on veterans and young players who are the contract with some of the biggest clubs in Italy. Pescara has signed several young players, including Cristiano Biraghi, who was under the contract with Inter, but he got a real chance in the team from Milan. Albino Bizzarri, a veteran who last year was on a goal for Chievo, should bring security in defense of returnees in Serie A. For Pescara, the start of the season will be very important, as in the first few rounds they have some very tough matches.

Crotone

For the first time in its history, Crotone will play in Serie A. Debutant qualify for the elite by winning second place in Serie B. Problem for Crotone can present departure of Ante Budimir, who last season scored 16 goals and was the top scorer of the team. Crotone does not have big stars, but it is certain that in every game every player will give the maximum in order to win and secure survival in the elite.
