Serie A – Teams that will fight for the Europa League next season

Serie A starts this weekend, and after presenting teams that will fight for title follows the presentation of the teams that are main candidates to play in the Europa League next season. Only two teams will reach the Europa League through the Serie A.

Inter enters the new season with very big ambitions and a new coach. Roberto Mancini and Inter mutually terminated cooperation, and Frank de Boer got the job. The Dutchman is very ambitious, but also aware of the limitations that his team has. The aim is to repeat the success from last season and secure place in the European competition. Inter did not change much this offseason. The most famous signing is Antonio Candreva, midfielder who last season played for Lazio. Stability in the middle of the field should contribute Ever Banega, who as a free agent arrived at Giuseppe Meazza. On the previous two seasons he played for Sevilla. Inter did not play the best in the pre-season period. We emphasize two very convincing defeat in clashes with Bayern Munich and Tottenham, but de Boer hopes that his team will be the ready when the season starts.

Last season, Fiorentina started very well, but then suddenly stopped. Nevertheless, Fiorentina managed to secure a place in the Europa League and the goal this season is to repeat that success. Viola has not been too active this summer. Great desire of coach Sousa was Juan Cuadrado, but he remained at Chelsea. Fiorentina will primarily rely on the players who last season carried the team. They expect a lot from Josip Ilicic, who was the best player of the team from Florence last season. Viola managed to keep Cristian Tello, who will play the 2016/2017 season on loan from Barcelona. Fiorentina expects a lot from this player, who last year scored one goal at four games in Serie A.

After a poor season in which they finished 12th, Torino has decided to make changes. Sinisa Mihjlovic replaced Giampiero Ventura, who is the new Italy coach. Mihajlovic, who began last season as coach of AC Milan, believes that he has a talented team, but that he needs few signings in order to make the good result this season. Torino has not been too active in signing new players this summer. The biggest signing this summer is Adem Ljajic, who arrived from Inter. Beside him Torino has high hopes for Andrea Belotti, a young striker who last season scored 11 goals in Serie A. The problem for Sinisa Mihajlovic could be Nemanja Maksimovic. A player who plays with great success in the last line of Torino wants to leave the club, and it is certain that this will happen. For Torino will be very important to start the season the right way.

AC Milan

AC Milan is for a long time now without success in Serie A. The Rossoneri last time played in the European competition in season 2013/2014. There are many reasons for such a situation at the club, which seven times won the Champions League. However, this season things are starting to change. Silvio Berlusconi era is over, as he sold the club to the Chinese investors, who have the task to return the club to the top of European football. This will not happen overnight, but for AC Milan this season is very important. They have finish on the place that leads to the Europa League and returned to the top of Italian football. There was not enough time for new owners to invest in bringing a big star, so AC Milan will have almost the same roster as last season. The biggest change is the arrival of Vincenzo Montella to the Rossoneri’s bench. He will try to make the best result with players he has at his disposal, but also to solve the problem of inefficiency that AC Milan had last season. Gianluca Lapadula should help with that, as AC Milan paid Pescara 9 million euros for him. Carlos Bacca was the best player of Rossoneri last season and there were lot of rumors that he will leave the San Siro, but that did not happen. Diavolo have a very tough schedule at the start of the season and it will be a real test for Vincenzo Montella and his vision of the new AC Milan.
