Premier League Week 2 Preview

In this preview we will try to predict the outcomes of the Premier League Week 2 matches, which will be played this weekend.

Manchester United will host Southampton in the opening match of the round. Manchester United started the season with an away victory against Bournemouth, while Southampton recorded a draw against Everton. In their last ten head to head matches Manchester United won six, Southampton won two, while two matches ended as a draw. However, the last two matches in Old Trafford were won by Southampton. On the other hand, Manchester United is a much better team on paper now, so they should record a victory, the odd is @1.45.

Stoke will play against Manchester City after an away draw against Middlesbrough in the first round. Manchester City recorded a home victory against Sunderland. In their last ten head to head matches Manchester City recorded five victories; Stoke won two matches while three matches ended as a draw. In previous season Stoke won the home match against Manchester City, but the visitors are absolute favorites now and they should win, the odd is @1.70.

Burnley will host Liverpool after a home defeat against Swansea, while Liverpool recorded a spectacular away victory against Arsenal. They played against each other four times in Premier League since 2009 and Liverpool won all matches so far, they didn’t even concede a single goal! We expect similar scenario this weekend, the odd for away victory is @1.55.

Swansea will host Hull after an away victory against Burnley, while Hull also recorded a victory against Leicester City in the first round. In their last ten head to head matches Hull won five games, Swansea won two and three matches ended as a draw. However, two seasons ago when they last played in Premier League Swansea won both matches so they are favorites here. On the other hand, eight out of ten matches had less than 2.5 goals scored and the odd for that tip is @1.65.

Tottenham will play against Crystal Palace after they recorded a draw against Everton in the first round match. Crystal Palace was defeated at home against WBA. In their previous ten meetings Tottenham recorded five victories, Crystal Palace won three matches, while two matches ended as a draw. In seven out of those ten matches at least one team didn’t score and the odd for that tip is @1.73.

Watford will play against Chelsea after recording an away draw against Southampton, while Chelsea defeated West Ham at home. In their previous nine matches played in the 21st century Chelsea recorded seven victories, while three matches ended as a draw. We expect that Chelsea will record another victory, the odd is @1.68.

WBA will host Everton after an away victory against Crystal Palace in the first round, while Everton recorded a home draw against Tottenham. In their previous ten meetings Everton recorded five victories, WBA won twice, while three matches ended as a draw. In eight out of ten of those matches we saw less than 2.5 goals and the odd for that tip is @1.60.

Leicester will play against Arsenal and this will be a very important match for both teams, since they both started the new season with defeat! Leicester was defeated against Hull, while Arsenal lost at home against Liverpool. Last year, Arsenal was the only team which defeated Leicester twice, but it seems that the best pick for this match is both teams to score. The odd for that is @1.60.

Sunderland will play against Middlesbrough after losing an away match against Manchester City in the first round. Middlesbrough started the season with a home draw against Stoke. In their previous ten meetings Sunderland recorded three victories, Middlesbrough won also three matches, while four matches ended as a draw. Their last five games had less than 2.5 goals which we expect in the forthcoming match too, with the odd @1.53.

West Ham will host Bournemouth after an away defeat against Chelsea, while Bournemouth also started their season with a defeat against Manchester United at home. Last season both matches were won by visitors, but we expect that West Ham will break that tradition and win here. The odd is @1.85.
