Arsenal finally buys some big names?

Arsenal finally buys some big names, according to English media – Alexander Lacazette and Julian Draxler are reportedly on their radar.

Like every other summer, numerous players are “transferring” to Arsenal on daily basis. Manager Arsene Wenger is being secretive about new signings, but reporters are tracking his every move and they have come up with Arsene’s alleged shopping list.

Riyad Mahrez is a target number one and it seems that the deal will go through in the forthcoming days, for a fee around 35 million pounds. Claudio Ranieri already lost one key man this summer, Kante transferred to Chelsea, so this would be a huge blow for Leicester. However, Italian manager won’t force anybody to stay at the club, so for the right price Mahrez could leave.

Alexander Lacazette is another potential signing for Arsenal. French winger is wanted by West Ham too, but there is no doubt that he will opt for Arsenal if Arsene Wenger calls him. Lyon doesn’t want to sell him for a fee below 50 million pounds, but their price is too big every summer and Lacazette is getting older, so if they don’t settle for around 30 million pounds, which is a reasonable price Arsenal is ready to pay, Lyon might find themselves with an unhappy player whose price is going down.

Julian Draxler requested a transfer after only one year he spent in Wolfsburg. He wants to move to a bigger club and since he has been on Wenger’s wishlist for a long time, it is easy to guess what the German international wants. Draxler was one of the best German players on EURO 2016, but he didn’t have a spectacular season in Wolfsburg. Since Mahrez is almost certainly coming to Arsenal, Wenger will probably try to buy only one out of remaining two wingers and it seems that Lacazette will have an advantage over Draxler.

Shkodran Mustafi should solve Arsenal’s problems in defense, but Valencia is asking for 25 million pounds, while Arsenal is prepared to pay around 15. Mustafi’s buyout clause is 41 million pounds actually, so if Valencia isn’t willing to sell, it is hard to expect that any club would pay that amount for him.

Since only Calum Chambers is available out of all centre backs in Arsenal, apart from Mustafi, Wenger would probably buy or loan some inexpensive player to cover that position until Mertesacker, Koscielny and Gabriel return to action. His first option is experienced West Bromvich player Jonny Evans, but Federico Fernandez from Swansea might come as well.
